A method for making an orthodontic appliance comprising: receiving, by a processor of a computer system, a three-dimensional digital model of an orthodontic appliance; determining, by the processor, a compensation factor to be applied when manufacturing the orthodontic appliance using the laser-based system, the determining the compensation factor including: aligning the three-dimensional digital model of the orthodontic appliance in a three-dimensional space with a predetermined position; determining a deviation of a position of a model groove base from a desired position of the model groove base, the compensation factor being based on the deviation and relating to an amount of material to be used during the manufacturing of the orthodontic appliance; causing the laser-based system to apply the compensation factor for manufacturing the orthodontic appliance.

A method of binder jet printing a part includes depositing a layer of a powder on a working surface and selectively printing a binder solution comprising a binder into the layer of powder in a first pattern to generate a printed layer. The pattern is representative of a structure of a layer of the part. The method also includes selectively printing a channel support agent solution comprising a channel support agent into the layer of powder to generate a green body. The channel support agent is selectively printed in a second pattern representative of an internal channel of the part. The method further includes heating the green body part above a first temperature to remove the binder and generate a brown body part and heating the brown body part above a second temperature to sinter the powder to generate the part having the internal channel generated from removal of the channel support agent.

The machine is of the type which uses an energy beam which acts on a powder layer in a working zone. The machine has a device for layering said powder and which includes a means for storing powder, a means for distributing powder, a feeding means that transfers powder from the storage means to the distributing means, and a metering means that controls the quantity of powder transferred from storage means to distributing means. The storage means is positioned higher than the working zone, the feeding means utilizes gravity, and in use, the feeding means and the metering means move with the distributing means. The machine has two separate working zones and two separate working trays that move independently of one another. Each of the working trays is associated with only one working zone, and the layering device is common to both working zones.

A method for producing a three-dimensional object (2) by applying layers of a pulverulent construction material (11) and by selectively solidifying said material by the action of energy comprises the steps: a layer of the pulverulent construction material (11) is applied to a support (6) or to a layer of the construction material that has been previously applied and at least selectively solidified; an energy beam (14) from an energy source (13) sweeps over points on the applied layer corresponding to a cross-section of the object (2) to be produced in order to selectively solidify the pulverulent construction material (11); and a gas flow (18) is guided in a main flow direction (RG) over the applied layer during the sweep of the energy beam (14). The main flow direction (RG) of the gas flow (G) and the sweep direction (RL) of the energy beam (14) are adapted to one another at least in one region of the cross-section to be solidified.

The present disclosure generally relates to casting molds including a casting shell surrounding at least a portion of a casting core comprising a first metal component and a hot isostactic pressed second metal component around the first metal component. In one aspect, the first metal component may have a lower melting point than the second metal component. In another aspect, the second metal component may retain some metal powder grain structure.
