A processing system comprises at least one processor and memory storing a listing performance data engine. The engine creates item listings in an online trading application based on seller input. When a seller requests listing performance data, specifying a listing and keywords, the engine retrieves the data. An apparatus comprising: a memory; and at least one processor operatively coupled to the memory, the at least one processor being configured to perform operations comprising: receive a seller specification of a specific item listing hosted by an online trading application and a request from a seller for listing performance data for the specific item listing that includes one or more keywords, the specific item listing having been generated in response to a request of the seller to list an item for sale via the online trading application; process application programming interface (API) requests in order to retrieve the listing performance data for the specific item listing; determine, based on the listing performance data, at least one position value that indicates a position at which the specific item listing would appear to a potential buyer in search results pages having a plurality of item listings based on a search query of the potential buyer containing the one or more keywords, wherein at least one item listing of the plurality of item listings is associated with a second seller; and transmit the listing performance data and the position value to a client computing system for presentation to the seller via a seller dashboard.
An apparatus, with a memory and a processor, receives a seller's request for performance data on a specific item listing, including keywords. This listing was previously created by the seller on an online marketplace. The processor uses APIs to retrieve the performance data, then calculates the listing's likely position in search results (given the keywords) if a buyer searched for it.
