‘BVCL01’ is a distinctiveplant which is characterized by uniquely variegated laminas with variegated foliage comprised of a light pink base coloration and irregular blotches of varying size and color, from magenta to dark pink, green to greyed-green, and brown; as well as vivid magenta petioles and petiole wings with dark pink irregular longitudinal stripes, and the stability of all characteristics from generation to generation.

Claim 1: . A new and distinct variety ofplant named ‘BVCL01’, substantially as described and illustrated herein.
Complete technical specification and implementation details from the patent document.
Latin name of the genus and species: The Latin name of the genus and species of the novel variety disclosed herein is
Variety denomination: The inventive variety ofdisclosed herein has been given the variety denomination ‘BVCL01’.
Parentage: ‘BVCL01’ is a spontaneous whole-plant mutation which was first discovered in July of 2024 at a commercial greenhouse facility in Phatthana Nikhom, Thailand, growing amongst a cultivated population of‘Pink Princess’ plants (not patented). The mutation was first noted for its unique foliage variegation, relative to the bicolored variegation of ‘Pink Princess’. Meristematic tissue was harvested from said mutation and in vitro micropropagation was first performed in October of 2024. The resulting plurality of tissue cultured plantlets produced were subsequently grown in a greenhouse for two generations to confirm the stability and relative uniformity of the unique foliage colorations. In December of 2024, the resulting plants were determined to have a stable, unique variegation pattern and were selected for further propagation. This new plant was given the name ‘BVCL01’.
Asexual Reproduction: Asexual reproduction of the new cultivar ‘BVCL01’, by way of meristematic tissue culture micropropagation, was first initiated in 2024 in Phatthana Nikhom, Thailand. Through two subsequent generations, the unique features of this cultivar have proven to be stable and true to type.
The cultivar ‘BVCL01’ has not been observed under all possible environmental conditions. The phenotype may vary somewhat with variations in environment such as temperature, day length, and light intensity, without, however, any variance in genotype. The following traits have been repeatedly observed and are determined to be the unique characteristics of ‘BVCL01’. These characteristics in combination distinguish ‘BVCL01’ as a new and distinctcultivar:
The following observations and measurements, made in May of 2025, describe averages from a 14-month-old ‘BVCL01’ plant grown in a 10 cm nursery container at commercial greenhouse in Phatthana Nikhom, Thailand. Plants were produced using conventional greenhouse production protocols forspecies which consisted of overhead irrigation once every two days and routine application of a granular 13-13-13. Plants were grown under shade (ranging from 5,000 to 25,000 lux) with ambient temperatures ranging from 26 to 38 degrees Celsius and humidity levels ranging from 70 to 90 percent.
Those skilled in the art will appreciate that certain characteristics will vary with older or, conversely, with younger plants. ‘BVCL01’ has not been observed under all possible environmental conditions. Where dimensions, sizes, colors and other characteristics are given, it is to be understood that such characteristics are approximations or averages set forth as accurately as practicable. The phenotype of the variety may differ from the descriptions set forth herein with variations in environmental, climatic and cultural conditions. Color notations are based on, The Royal Horticultural Society, London, Sixth Edition.
A botanical description of ‘BVCL01’ and a comparison with the parent plant and most similar commercial cultivar are provided below.
Plants of the new cultivar ‘BVCL01’ differ from the seed parent,‘Pink Princess’ (not patented), by the characteristics described in Table 1 below.
Plants of the new cultivar ‘BVCL01’ differ from the closest known comparator,‘EM0003’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 36,881), by the characteristics described in Table 2 below.
